A/Prof. Jeremy D Shapiro

Consultant Physician in Medical Oncology. Associate Professor of Medicine, Monash University

A/Prof Jeremy Shapiro has more than 25 years’ experience in health and medical research including 3 years at the USA National Cancer Institute, and subsequently in the Department of Medicine, Monash University and the Cabrini Research Institute.

He has published more than 100 papers in internationally peer reviewed high impact factor journals and published 130 papers in proceedings of national and international conferences. The focus of this research has largely been clinical gastrointestinal cancer and related translational work. He has held senior roles in the Australian Gastrointestinal Trials Group over the past 20 years, and led several large cooperative group trials in pancreatic and other GI cancers. He continues to explore ways to improve the outcomes for patients with pancreatic cancer.

Dr. Brett Knowles

Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary and General Surgeon. Honorary Lecturer, Department of Surgery, University of Melbourne

Dr Brett Knowles is a leading upper gastrointestinal surgeon at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, St Vincent’s Private Melbourne, Epworth Health and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and in private practice Melbourne Surgical Group.

A dedicated specialist and researcher in pancreatic cancer, Brett Knowles is the lead investigator for the DIRECT-InspIRE Nanoknife clinical trial and a Principal Investigator for the Pancreatic Organoid project.

A/Prof. Rachel Wong

Consultant Oncologist in Medical Oncology. Adj. Clinical Associate Professor, Monash University

A/Prof Rachel Wong is a consultant oncologist at Eastern Health and Epworth Eastern. She is Deputy Director of Medical Oncology at Eastern Health, an adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at Monash University and a research fellow at WEHI.

Rachel has a keen interest in pancreatic cancer, having completed a Gastrointestinal cancer fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital London. She is the Principal Investigator for the PURPLE Registry at Eastern Health and Epworth Healthcare.

A/Prof. Rob Zielinski

Senior Specialist in Medical Oncology. A/Prof. Faculty of Medicine, Western Sydney University

A/Prof Rob Zielinski is a senior staff specialist in medical oncology currently practicing in regional NSW at the Central West Cancer Care Centre, Orange NSW. He is an Associate Professor with the Faculty of Medicine, Western Sydney University. He is also the current Director of the Orange Hospital Clinical Trials Unit.

Rob’s passion is improving the disparity in cancer outcomes between rural and metropolitan patients and has a particular passion for increasing access to clinical trials to rural patients. Research interests include implementation science, improving the patient experience through collaborations with medical research institutes in Sydney and Newcastle, direct clinical research through involvement in investigator and sponsor-led clinical trials.

Dr. Kate Clarke

Consultant Medical Oncologist. Leader within the New Zealand Gastrointestinal Special Interest Group, member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Asia Pacific Council

Dr Kate Clarke is an experienced medical oncologist and proud New Zealander. Dr Clarke continues to work at being Tangata Tiriti (People of Treaty). Much of her research and patient advocacy has an equity focus.

She completed her medical training in Otago, Wellington and London. She has a holistic approach and is passionate about patient-centred care, and believes patients can and should play an active role in their healthcare. 

Kate is the recent ex-president of the New Zealand Society of Oncology and is active in teaching under-graduates, nursing and allied health colleagues and specialist trainees.

Dr Clarke is grateful to her patients, students, whanau and colleagues for the knowledge and awhi (love) they share. Ehara taku toa, he takitahi, he toa takitini. (My success is not mine alone but it is the strength of many).

A/Prof. David Tai

Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist. Clinical Associate Professor National Cancer Centre Singapore

Clinical A/Prof David Tai is a Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist at the National Cancer Centre Singapore. His areas of interest include gastrointestinal cancers and early development therapeutics.

Adj. A/Prof. Chee Cheng Ean

Senior Consultant Medical Oncologist. Adjunct Associate Professor Department of Medicine Yong Yu Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, Executive Director National University Cancer Institute Singapore.

Adj A/Prof Chee is a senior consultant, gastrointestinal (GI) oncologist and clinician investigator.

Her portfolio includes clinical and research initiatives in precision oncology and clinical trials, involving novel therapeutics in GI cancers, which have been awarded institutional and national grant funding. 

She also leads the cancer survivorship program at NCIS and is a proponent of value-based healthcare initiatives.

Adj A/Prof Chee Cheng Ean is the Executive Director of the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore.  

A/Prof. Amitesh Roy

Senior Medical Oncologist. Member of the AGITG Upper GI, MOGA, SAC and MASC groups. Senior Clinical lecturer, Flinders University.

A/ Prof. Amitesh Roy is a senior medical oncologist at Flinders Centre For Innovation in Cancer, Flinders Medical Centre.

He completed his specialist medical oncology training in Adelaide, South Australia.

Following this, A/Prof Roy completed a Clinical Research Fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London where he specialised further in the management of GI malignancies.

He has a strong research focus in his current practice and is involved in various clinical and translational research projects.

He is committed to providing high quality, evidence based care that is both comprehensive and patient-centric.
