The PURPLE Translational Platform

The PURPLE Translational Platform has been developed to help create and support
vital links between research laboratories and cancer treatment centres to improve
knowledge sharing capabilities.

The importance of linking clinical pancreatic cancer data with research discoveries
cannot be overstated. Central to the establishment of the PURPLE Translational
Platform, is the large-scale, multi-centre PURPLE Translational Registry. The registry
combines comprehensive genomic, clinico-pathological, treatment, and survival data
alongside laboratory and research data to improve the understanding of pancreatic
cancer.

Despite advances in treating many cancers, the outcomes for pancreatic cancer
patients remain poor. The goal of the PURPLE Translational Platform is to create a
comprehensive information system that supports data sharing and collaboration
across laboratories and cancer treatment centres.

The aim of the PURPLE Translational Platform is to have a fundamental impact on the
ability to accelerate research and, ultimately, improve outcomes for patients with
pancreatic cancer. Greater participation in and access to new drug treatment and
clinical trials is crucial to improving outcomes. The PURPLE Translational Platform
brings together clinicians, researchers and patients to ensure this crucial work
continues.
